In 2003, at age two, a pre-school boy named
Jackson Breen was diagnosed with autism.
Thankfully, there was somewhere to turn for the
support and help he needed to learn and grow.
Jackson spent three years at
KidStart receiving
special education services, and is now
flourishing in public school and starting third
grade. Many children, like Jackson, walk through
the doors of KidStart every year, receiving the
special services they desperately need to help
them prepare for a brighter future.
Jackson is the son of Dr. David Breen, a
local pediatrician, and founder of Jackson's
Team for KidStart.
In 2011, KidStart’s current home at the Holcomb
Building in Geneseo, NY will no longer be
available. Without community support
and funds for a new building, children like
Jackson may not be able to get the help they
need locally, close to home.
Jackson’s Team is a local, grassroots effort by
KidStart parents, families, friends, and
employees who have come together to raise
awareness and money to make our new building a
reality. According to Dr. Breen, “KidStart made
a miraculous difference in my son. We had a
dream that he would learn to talk and go to
public school, and that dream came true
thanks to KidStart.”
