Delivering quality services to the people we support creates a bond that’s not necessarily found in other types of organizations.  We are a human services agency, but in many ways, we’re also a family.

As a family, we often work together through situations that are difficult or uncertain.  I’ve seen it happen hundreds of times across our service programs, and it never fails to make me proud.

The way that we react to COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, is no exception.  As a family, we will get through this situation together, just as long as we support one another.

Please be assured that our Board of Directors and Management at all levels are making every effort, based on the latest guidance, to act in the best interest of all members of The Arc of Livingston-Wyoming family: employees, people supported, and their loved ones.  Your physical, emotional, and financial wellbeing is of paramount importance to us, especially during this difficult time.

There are many roles within The Arc family.  As such, how this evolving situation might impact each Arc employee individually will depend on a combination of factors, including their program and job function.  The people we support will still need us during this time, which may require us to be flexible to meet their needs.  Any situation pertaining to special staffing will be conducted with honesty, sensitivity, and open communication.  Should you have ideas or concerns, please see your Supervisor, Program Director, or me.

Every day seems to bring more news regarding COVID-19, and at times it may be hard to cut through all of the information.  We are closely monitoring the guidance from the New York State Department of Health (DOH) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) on how to manage a potential outbreak in our region.  We are committed to providing the latest updates as they become available, and to using that information to maintain a safe workplace and practices that protect the health of staff, individuals supported, and other valued stakeholders.

With thoughts of you and your loved ones as we work through this situation together, as a family,

Martin Miskell
Executive Director
The Arc of Livingston-Wyoming
