Dear KidStart Families,

On Friday the Governor shared that ALL schools across our state are permitted to reopen. He also included a number of new “mandates” during his press conference which we received some guidance on to move forward with.

A few important points shared in this update:

  • Schools may reopen with approved plans from Department of Health
  • Plans need to be shared on contact tracing, testing, and remote learning
  • 2 Parent Forums and 1 Staff Forum need to be held before August 21

The scheduled forums provide parents and staff with opportunities to engage in discussions about the reopening plan. Please take some time to read through it and develop questions. I encourage you to respond to this post by emailing questions to kidstartcontact@lwarc.org and we will be sure to address them during the Zoom meetings. Meetings have been scheduled for three different times of the day to allow families to choose a time that best fits their schedule.

The Zoom meetings are scheduled as follows:

Parent Zoom Meeting #1: Wednesday, August 12th, 12:00pm-1:00pm

Parent Zoom Meeting #2: Thursday, August 13th, 10:00am-11:00am

Parent Zoom Meeting #3: Thursday, August 13th, 5:00pm-6:00pm

We are very excited to have our students and staff return this fall, but want to do so in a manner that is safe and secure for all. Your feedback is very important to us as we continue to prioritize the health and safety of our students, staff, and families. Thank you all for your continued patience and understanding during this unprecedented time.

Sincerely,
Stephanie Metz

Dear KidStart Families,

Reopening Plan: Click to Download
Reopening Plan: Click to Download

As we look ahead to a school year unlike any other that we have experienced before, the health and safety of our children, families, and staff remains our highest priority.

KidStart has developed a reopening plan with a focus on care first. This document was created to ensure the physical, emotional, and psychological well being of students and staff so that teaching and learning can thrive.

Schools were required to submit three (3) instructional models as part of its reopening plan: in-person, hybrid, and remote. As of this correspondence, KidStart is proceeding with its hybrid model. Please note, Governor Cuomo will ultimately determine whether or not schools may reopen. This decision is expected to be released the week of August 1-7, 2020.

Without a doubt, the obstacles presented by the COVID-19 pandemic have created tremendous challenges, globally and locally. While always prioritizing the health and safety of students and staff, our plan is designed to be modified as necessary, under the guidance of health authorities as conditions evolve.

Should you have questions or feedback, please email us at kidstartcontact@lwarc.org.  Many thanks to state and local agencies, and our KidStart staff and families, for providing guidance throughout the planning process.

Sincerely,
Stephanie Metz
