Board of Directors

Parents founded The Arc of Livingston-Wyoming more than 50 years ago.  Their goal was to provide services for our community’s most at-risk children.  As their first project, they established the area’s first preschool class for children with developmental disabilities.

Today, The Arc serves well over 1,100 individuals of all ages, and parents continue to be the agency’s guiding force. According to the bylaws of The Arc of Livingston-Wyoming, at least half of the Board of Directors must be blood-related to persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities.

The Arc is guided by an active Board that represents a broad cross-section of the community. Board members include community leaders with expertise in the fields of special education, medicine, banking, and insurance, to name a few. Examples include experience at the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (formerly DDSO), SUNY Geneseo, and private businesses/practice, as well as at-home experience living with or raising individuals with developmental disabilities.
