Family Education and Training

Family Education and Training (FET) helps to assist families in making informed decisions about services needed for a loved one with developmental disabilities while promoting independence, community integration and inclusion.  We provide education and training to help strengthen families and improve parent confidence in knowing they have the tools they need to make important life decisions.  FET is not a direct service; it is used to provide information on topics such as:

  • Family life & caretaking
  • The educational system & special education
  • Health and personal care
  • Services
  • Legal and financial issues
  • Review of benefits and entitlements
  • Developing advocacy skills
  • Transition planning
  • Behavior management
